"At the age of 54 I had never lived anywhere other than the Southeast corner of Massachusetts. After an unexpected and sudden job loss, I rented my house and drove away to try to figure out what was next for me. What I now understand is I was not running from anything; I was being drawn to my new life in New Smyrna Beach, FL!
This place is a mix of old fashion fun, an easy and relaxed pace, a tropical paradise, many independent small businesses rather than commercial chains, and a mix of many different people who have somehow also been drawn to this small peninsula off the Atlantic coast in Florida.
After crossing one of two bridges to arrive at “beachside”, you will quickly feel both the peace NSB exudes; as well as the call of the ocean and the live music playing almost constantly from one of the many restaurants or bars on Flagler Ave. Flagler Ave begins as you exit the South Causeway and ends at the Atlantic Ocean! It is the hub of activity, whether you enjoy shopping, eating, socializing, dancing or partying. Fortunately, my place is a quick 2-minute walk to both the beach and Flagler Ave so no need for transportation other than your feet!
It is a safe and welcoming community and is the “locals” favorite beach. We have guests year-round whether locals travel from Orlando or snowbirds coming for the winter. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love the vibe of New Smyrna Beach, otherwise known as NSB!"
